At first glance, Facebook’s latest search tool may not look a whole lot different from its original platform. But with a closer look, you’ll discover more avenues to navigate for targeted Facebook information and fellow users.
Facebook’s graph search has been hailed as a new asset for online journalists because they can cut straight to the photo sources they want or even find potential interviewees. For example, with wider search capabilities, a writer can search for photos taken in August 2013 or recent celebrity photo uploads. If you’re writing a time-sensitive blog post about the Yosemite fires, you can find your image sources by narrowing your search to “photos of Yosemite wildfire.”
Web entrepreneurs can also use Facebook’s graph to search for professionals who work at certain companies or people interested in WordPress development.

While they essentially works like Twitter’s standard advanced search tool, users can manually input their own search characters with minus and plus signs, as well as “not,” “near” and other terms.
Harnessing LinkedIn search tools
LinkedIn is one of the top five major social media sites. It’s proven to be a great connection tool for job seekers, up-and-coming startups, new clients and corporate headhunters. And it’s advantageous for any new entrepreneur to learn the ins and outs of LinkedIn search.
Within LinkedIn’s specialized groups, you have access to a polling feature that allows you to view questions relevant to your niche and find the Linkedin users who answered them.
To check out other existing polls within the group, go to the “search” tab and click “all polls” on the left sidebar or sort and filter according to what you’re looking for.
