1. You think you deserve any or all positions you apply for
While it’s important to remain both positive and confident during the application process, acting as if you deserve a position can create a catastrophe. There are many consequences that can come from this kind of ungrateful demeanor.
When a job seeker feels like they’re owed a position, preparation could fall to the wayside. Research and are a necessity when it comes to the application and hiring process. When applying for a position, the right amount of preparation is required to ensure that you’re well-versed on the company and the position and that your application materials are up to par for the position. 3. You don’t network properly
The ability to show your gratitude while networking is essential. An ungrateful outlook can leave you disrespecting your current and potential networking contacts in such a way that could ruin your chances for advancing your career. This might mean that you’ve been overlooking opportunities to thank them for their generous advice, hours of time and even for all of the people they’ve helped connect you with during your job search.
Combat this potential situation by spending more time thanking your networking contacts. You can do this in the form of an email, handwritten note, phone call or even by picking up the tab the next time you go out for lunch. Always remember that your networking contacts are using their valuable time to help benefit your job search; that fact alone should make you feel grateful.
4. Your attitude suffers to the point where potential employers notice
Nothing deters a hiring manager like a poor attitude. An ungrateful attitude could contribute to a perception of arrogance or negativity that certainly won’t impress anyone, particularly in an .
